Another transducer placement question

I have a Chap with the extended plane. I'm assuming the better placement for the transducer is on the extended plane (#1 in pic) rather than #2.

Instructions say no closer than 3 in to the prop. #2 location is right on the edge of 3in.

The issue with transducers is it needs to be in clean water, any kind of turbulence will stop the reading. I would look at 1 before 2 so long as the hull does not have a thru fitting forward

Thank you for mentioning that....there is a through hull depth finder...I will look. It may be between centerline and #2
