1985 Evinrude 90 HP TLCOS.

From the throttle control box, in addition to the 3 color coded wires that go to the T/T harness I have 4 additional wires. One black and one white that are together and possibly go to the ignition. The other is a set of 2 lightwt. black wires that apparently go to the engine.

Is it possible that the white/black is for the neutral start safety switch? Which ignition terminals would these attach to?

How about the 2 black to the engine, any idea what they are?

The engine starts and the tilt/trim works without these attached.

Thanks.

Do you have a trim/tilt guage? I know I have two unconnected wires that will go to the guage (once I get one). They sound the same as what you describe but my motor is an 80.

No gauge. I was thinking that the two black wires may be for that, coming from a sender back at the engine. How about the black and white wires?
Thanks!

The two black wires are most likely for the TNT gauge as posted. Are the black and white wires in the engine harness?? The diagram for your engine shows no white wire in the harness. Black is engine/system ground....black w/yellow stripe is the kill wire to the power packs.

Nope, there not in the harness. Don't know what they are. Someone suggested that they may be for the neutral start safety switch....I don't know.
Thanks.
