I have a 40 hp mercury tracker , I can squeeze the bulb and gas will flow into into my motor. take loose the hose at the carb. squeeze again and gas will come flying out the line. I replace the fuel line and crank the motor it will only run for secounds. It will do this 5 or 6 times as I recrank each time checking the bulb for titeness.SUDDENLY i can squeeze more gas into the motor like a door opened into a another chamber. Could this be caused by a anti-syphon valve? once this occures my motor runs fine. Looking for a answere in the carolinas.MY CARB HAS BEEN CLEANED AND SEEMS TO BE IN GOOD ORDER.

Re: anti-syphon valve

I assume you have a built in tank with an anti-siphon valve? One way to check things out is to run it with a portable tank, bypassing the AS valve, to see if the problem disappears. I had to remove the anti-siphon valve on mine due to fuel starvation at WOT. Hope this helps.
