Re: Any American Idol watchers ?

Mrs. QC was sure that Haley would go, I was sticking with the Paul or Jacob scenario, so I guess I was vindicated. I don't really understand why Jacob is still around. Nice guy, great voice, but no star power. Haley and Casey's duet was very cool. Brougth out another side of her that increased her rating in my book.

It does seam girls dont like girls [ Mrs QC ] And the majority of the voters are young girlies. Sorry Pia. And Haley even being in the bottom 3 surprises me. If Haley gets the hook, I will lose most interest in who wins. I would kinda cheer on Lauren I guess. But thats cuz I like looking at girls, not guys ! I would think theer would be a small market for the rest. I would vote for... Haley 1st... then Lauren, Casey next, Scotty, James, Stefano and Jacob............

I'm in Central time today, Mrs. QC has to wait another hour. Lauren was best of the night for me, then Casey. Haley . . . uhhh, not so much.

Country boy Scott had better pick up the pace and get away from them melodies, needs a little up beat of Garth Brooks or Toby Keith or Brad Paisley.

James and Lauran could be the two finalist. I do not care for James hard rock music but he has what the teenie boppers want to hear and he is a performer.

Jacob is my strong favorite to get the boot tonight.

Yeah, Jacob, Stefano or Haley is gone tonight. Those three will be gone soon, no matter what.

Lauren performances on Youtube are amazing. Candle in the Wind made me a believer, and now that I am I have watched her Nashville Audition and I am blown away. 15 then . . .

I really like the heart Jacob puts into his music but it's the same sound every song and pretty much the same with Scotty sound wise. At the end of the show when the judges were giving their general comments and not being specific, Steven seemed to have a Casey fit all of the sudden. It's like he made his decision that Casey was the winner in his eyes. I think Stephano, Haley and Jacob will be in the bottom tonight. I am forseeing Scotty's days being numbered as well. I've had my fill of all things country. There's probably 10 country songs I like in total, and I'd like to hear him do some mainstream everyman country stuff. I don't like the way Stephano drops the end of all the words when he sings. Some of the songs really need enunciation and he can't seem to do that.

I agree jacob or Stephano out tonight. I hope anyway. I like Haley's voice but historically girls that sound that way don't seem to go much further then she already has. I think she has a couple more weeks to go. I love the voice but it can get tiresome.
I liked Crystal Bowersocks to though so what do I know. LOL

I like Lauren less lately. I know she has the talent it's just hard to watch her for some reason.

Casey is the guy that I make a point to see during the show because he is unpredictable and manages to bering something new to the performance every week. (That and the fact I am a jazz fan and I didn't think any contestant would ever choose to do jazz.)
I wasn't really a Casey fan, but I do love Jazz and he has won me over with his musical skills. Jazz was obvious even in his audition:

Casey's Audition

Lauren, IMHO is the dark horse. She is 17 (I think) and I agree with the judges that there is a LOT more to her talent than she has shown us. But at 17 I don't know if she has the needed confidence to let it all come out.
She was 15 at her audition, and 16 now!! These two examples blow me away:

Audition

Candle in the Wind

I like Lauren less lately. I know she has the talent it's just hard to watch her for some reason.

Funny, we can't watch Haley. If she stands still, I love watching her . . .

Wife and I love the show and this is best year yet, very diverse talent here, has to come down to what the voters like best and I'll bet they're mostly teenagers. No real loosers here at this point in the competition!....Hope they all go right on to great music careers, whether country, pop, R&B, broadway, whatever!....great bunch of kids here!

I'm surprised that there is so much love for Casey and not so much for Haley. That song she did last night was fantastic. With Casey, it seems like he over emphasizes various words. I will give him credit for the end of the song. Being in Lopez face like that looked totally uncomfortable, especially with her turningn away. But planting that kiss on her took giant brass ones.

No matter who wins, I think they all have great careers in front of them, I could see Scotty at the CMA's next year and there are country produces drooling over him..but I think they in one form or another will all be singing for quite a while to come..

I was wrong, thought for sure that Jacob was getting the boot. Not surprised that Stefano was the one to go, him being from Texas you would think that he would last a little longer since Texas is a big state.

Looks like it will be Haley or Jacob next week to go.

Re: Any American Idol watchers ?

I've been an Idol fan for 6 years now and have lost faith in the American listening and voting public. Early on this season I thought the judges were a great mix with perfect balance. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez put a positive spin on the performances and Randy became the voice of reason; I was really glad Simon booked out. Lately though, the judges have been gushing even for the likes of twinkle toes, mickey mouse Paul who can't sing a lick. Idol has become a show that is based primarily on image and not substance, performance over singing talent. The show's longevity is in jeopardy the more the discriminating listening public tunes out. If America couldn't see the talent in a Pia or a Thia, we're in trouble in more ways than just our fiscal bubble and the dumbing down of our collective intelligence.

At this point it's really getting close, but IMHO, Casey da man, Haley da lady! I would banish the screechin preacha, cowboy boots and the mohawk, but let's be realistic here. Mohawk has the tweetin' teenies in the palm of his hand.

Re: Any American Idol watchers ?

Boy I didn't know that Idol was a political commentary on the collective smarts of America, go figure! Take it for what it is a shallow good time chance for a bunch of kids to get up and sing on TV, some do great (Carry Underwood) Some don't do so great, but really unless your a fan of all types of music, most of them you never hear from again, but the majority of the Idol top tens have careers in the music business and make a pretty good living..

Just because Pia and Thia were voted off, does not mean the majority of watchers didn't like them, it was because the majority of watchers didn't vote..

But I have never been of the thought process that watching American Idol was appealing to the discriminating music listeners or tastes.

Bubba, I am going to have to agree with you 100% that was an awesome performance, he just keeps getting better.

I was not surprised at who went home last night, although I will give Casey credit, I would love to be in New Orleans and hear his voice coming out the door to some of those Jazz clubs on Bourbon Street, he will do good in the Jazz circles..
