Ok, so this is what the thing looked like when I brought it home 3 years ago. Only 'before' picture I have. Looks much better now, I'll post new pictures later....

Have no idea what it is, the top half of transom plate is broke off, all that's left is weight/hp rating. Have not registered it yet since it's been under construction for three years, and because I would have to buy the tag again in August, so I'll just wait.

Fairly sure the motor came with the boat, and it's a 1966 Johnson. 14 foot fiberglass, 60 inch beam at the gunwhales. Bench in the middle, very small deck in front. Small console set up in back, with provisions to place console up front, sitting on middle bench. The bow is kinda 'w' shaped, flatening out to three ribs as it goes back. 15 inch transom.

I have not splashed it yet, but I am determined to do so this season! All I lack is is wiring and steering, should be done in the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed).

Have not seen another like it, maybe ya'll can help.....

I want to callit a punt. When I was in the navy (a Loooong time ago) we would have occasion to paint the side of the ship.

The navy yard had several utility boats, most were small barges, some looked like Jon Boats, and we had several that looked like yours.

Many times a couple of friends and I would BARROW this and head out to Grande Island, we liked this one because it would handle the chop a lot better then the Jon boats.

Memories

Interesting. Gives me a lead to investigate. If you're ever in 'Bama stop in for a ride!

Here's the updated pics, maybe it'll help the ID'ing.

First pic, would you call the bow a 'v' or semi-v?

In the second and third pics you can see the triangle-shaped mount to put the console up front.

Is there any Hull identification number stamped into the hull on the upper right side of the outside of the transom?

I consider that a tri-hull based on the bow and it reminds me of the original Ranger fishing boats of the late 60's-early 70's

I seem to remember a number stamped into the outside of the hull, but it was at the bow near the eye, port side I think, and only three or four digits.

If it does not have a Hull Identification Number they it is pre 1974 .....three digits is not enough ;)

Not really info on your boat, but if you trailer it that way and have to stop quick...it's gonna go right up over that bow roller into whatever you're towing it with. The bow eye should really be UNDER the bow roller.
Neat boat though. Kinda narrows it up a little inside with those side compartments molded in.

Good luck

Not to pile on but that bow stop will collapse in a panic stop. Should be solid material and braced.

Cool boat though!

Yep, 1965 Crosby Sea Sled. Just figured it out a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the response anyway ;)
