Re: Any difference between 2007 and 2014 Etec 150
I would look very carefully into things like recalls or defective parts that were known issues they updated or changed on newer models.
overall I doubt the engines changed but all the stuff that bolts onto it under the cowling might be where you see updates and changes. but things like water pumps, fuel pumps, and stuff change to improve things too but they may not be done for a specific problem that was found.
I think its a great deal but do a lot of web searching for reported issues you might have with things like premature failure on some older parts that were revised for the newer models.
also as stated the resale value on that motor is GONE so keep that in mind when you think about the price, no one is going to want a 7+ year old motor so buy it with the intention that you are stuck with it until it blows up because you would have to sell it for nothing to get rid of it if you are going to repower again in the future.
based on its age alone it has virtually no resale or trade-in value at all the minute you leave the dealer. for these reasons I suggest you play hard ball and insist he come down another $1,000.00 because he HAS TO sell it but you don't have to buy it so YOU are in the stronger position here. think about it, he has been stuck with this motor now for 7 years or maybe he took it off the hands of another dealer for a steal so he can sell it and make a sweet profit but whatever the case is, he finally has a chance to make a sale so he is motivated to make the deal and get his money back out of it.
