I have a 2002 Dodge Durango SLT 88,000 miles 3rd row seating and such....My problem is the first 3 speeds on my blower motor will not work, only the high setting blows.... Ive tried it in defrost, and regular settings for the vents...No change.. My blowers for the back seats work, in all the settings so Im guessing there are at least 2 blower motors??

Im leaning towards the motor on its way out, more then I am a bad switch in the dash... what would be my best options to trouble shoot this thing and get it fixed? Location of the blower motor? how easy is it to change? My guess is under the dash, but Im hoping and praying it isnt!
With winter looming and defrost becomes imperative around here so I need to get it taken care of before I lose the 4 and final speed and end up with nothing

Help me out please!

Get hold of SuperNova, he is the Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler guru around here.

Re: Any dodge gurus in the house?

Typically, there's a fan speed module mounted near the fan motor, in the air duct that controls the speed of the motor. This module has a series of wire wound coils or PCB traces of various widths that vary in resistance which determines the speed of the fan blower motor. It shouldn't be too hard to find this module and replace it, it's near the fan. The module is in the air stream. Air flowing over the module helps to keep the "resistors" cool so they don't burn open ( killing a speed setting in the process). The high fan setting doesn't have a resistor because the fan should run at full speed on High and gets full voltage.

I have a similar problem with my 84 dodge, I think mine is in the wiring because, well mopars have bad wiring from the get go :( and I can remove the switch AND the resistor then hit any control button and it blows on high! (there is no high speed relay either) Good luck, hope it's something simple:cool:

Re: Any dodge gurus in the house?

As previously stated it is the blower motor resistor. Had to change mine, 03 Durango, awhile back.

There are good instructions on how to do it if you want to try it yourself on the following page.
