Use diesel.

Kerosene is just #1 diesel anyways. I try to keep a 3 gallon pump sprayer full of it.

I wouldn 't use gaoline.....stuff it to damn flamable.

When I got my boat someone had tarred the transom. After trying a few products I found it came off easily with laquer thinner.
