Drop the lower unit. Attach hoist to powerhead, and make it tight enough to unload the transom. Make sure you have removed all the bolts. The old inline sixes had two bolts in the very front of the lower cowling, which were hard to find.
Spray some penetrating oil onto the studs. Push the powerhead side to side and back and forth to break it loose.
