Any issue with leaving the drive unit off for the winter

taking the drive off to do service/maintenance for the winterize
any reason it 'has' to go back on and then leave it on for the winter ?
I'll close up and cover the back end of the boat over the winter

Make sure you coat the drive shaft in grease and it's covered.

Won't hurt a thing as long as water doesn't get into the bellows and gimbal bearing.
