have to have my kicker motor battery next to the aux gas tank, all out iin the open. any problems with that, dont have too many options and I see that all the time with elec trolling motors transom mounts in tinnys. Any CG regs cover this??
1. Battery box is highly recommended.
2. Batteries only spark from a loose connection so make sure ever thing is tight.
3. I would remove fuel tank 1st if I ever had to had to disconnect or reconnect the battery.
4. Remove fuel tank and charge the battery outside of the boat if needed.
So in essence keep all sparks away from tank and you should be good. There are electrical connections everywhere on your car where fuel is present so if it's done right it's not an issue.
A battery box is a must, if battery is out in the open, in my opinon. I have taken the hood off the motor, and connected the battery charger at the connections at the incoming battery connections on the motor to charge the battery, so i didnt have to connect at the battery. If the charger is not pluged in, or turned off, you shouldnt get any sparks when connecting the leads. But they can spark, if not connected tight when you turn the charger on.
