any relationship between water depth and likelihood of prop venting?

Before I troubleshoot a problem that might be nonexistent, is there any relationship between water depth and the likelihood that a prop will ventilate on the hole shot? A new prop that has worked OK in the ocean was ventilating fairly frequently in a 10 foot deep inland river this weekend, and I was wondering if the shallow water could be a cause.

Thanks,
E

No. Only thing I can figure is something to do with current, or you're dragging bottom. Rivers never have a constant depth. It could be 3' deep right under you and 10' deep an arm's reach away.

Shallow does have a lifting effect but we're talking inches, not feet, deep.

any one hear of a sounder and engine conected? mine will not plane till 8-10 ft of water after 10 feet it turned on power in engine, the maker of the unit, said the owner either bought it with boat or it was made that way. I though it was prop problem.

Thanks all, I'll check things out closer this weekend, I just wanted to eliminate that first.
