Just one question, maybe you'll know the answer to this one: when Rush broadcasts things like "Liberals hate America," and you hear some of his loyal listeners repeating it
as if they actually believe it, why they do that?
Don't they recognize hyperbole and sarcasm when they hear it?
thanks,
No offense taken here for sure, and none can be, from honest questions and differences of opinion, Jtexas.
You asked a valid, to the point question, and it deserves a great deal of attention, thought and
honesty. I told you it would be long-winded. But it is central to so much misunderstanding and feuding in our society, between me and you.
I'm sure most first, or second-time listeners to Rush have the same reaction to him that i did
back in 1989, when i first listened...."He is a crass, concieted blow-hard". I truely did have
that instantanious relution to him. He reminded me of John Madden narating a football game (boom).
And It wasn't my truck i was riding in, so it wasn't my radio to change the dial on...I therefore reluctantly listened, only to discover this blow-hard was sarcasticly witty, and saying what i TRUELY believed. It wasn't his "mannerisms" that i was in tune with. It was his "relentless pursuit of the truth".
You asked, "
when Rush broadcasts things like "Liberals hate America," and you hear some of his loyal listeners repeating it as if they actually believe it, why they do that?":
Because
generally-speaking Rush, and i'm sure "some of his loyal listeners", repeat what
they believe --- that liberals hate the country. These are the reasons for that general assumption:
Differences in the economic model we hold as "ideal" -- or Capitalism/vs/socialism:
In general, cons believe the capitalism is what makes America, and those countries that employ it's principles, global economic leadership.
Libs on the other hand, look towards socialism as some sort of utpopian society
They believe in distribution of the wealth. Robin Hood economics has ,as Rush puts it, "failed every single time is has been tried.
If one looks around the world at nations who have instituted this form of economic model, they will soon see, they are all diametrically-opposed to America, (except for France --and frankly, who knows about them for sure)...
Unamerican.

The liberal's stand on the the war on Islamic terrorism:

Thier encouragement to terrorists has cost countless coalition lives. It's not "rocket surgery", to make the leap from "non-supportive" to "Unamerican".
Rush and i believe it is not EVEN POSSIBLE to "support the troops, but not the war", as some libs like to say. Rush has gone as far as to refer to Cindy Sheehan's ilk, not as "anti-war protestors", but as
"Anti-American war protestors" lately!!
In case you don't know why, i will explain... Liberals protesting America's shift to an aggressive stand since 9/11 against terrorists and those who harbor them, are protesting my country's official stand. The fact that a republican president is commander in chief is not important to most cons at all, as regards this issue. It is but one more (actaully, the CHIEF) reason many liberals are siding with the enemy by protesting their country's goals. This makes them "unamerican" in the eyes of Rush Limbaugh and many of his listeners.
What defines "Patriotism" to a liberal has changed greatly in the last 40 years. Patriotism to Rush is what it has always been, Jtexas.
Liberals view it as "standing-up against tyranny", as they define tyranny. They define tyranny as "American aggression on the global scene".

Feel free to correct me , if you do not think this is true in general..By "in general", i mean, not what you personally believe, but what you know "the masses on the left in general" believe.

Cons in general (75% of Rush's audience) define "tyranny" as aggression towards anyone, anywhere, by tyrants. This includes Hitler, Stalin, Sadamn and his twisted younguns, uday and kusay et al.
Bill Clinton's response to acts of terror directed towards America durring his presidency reflect this liberal "anti-American" view of the american military as "world police".
Bush views them as America's defence....So does Rush Limbaugh and me.
Libs are fed tidbits like the following from their press: "
Uday and Kusay" were just misunderstood, having been brought-up in a disfunctional home, by a father who has led a tortured and troubled life" -NYT-
The left are known for their "compassion", aren't they, no matter how mis-directed?

Rush and I gag.

The left's use of the miltary?

Rush Limbaugh and liberals in general, are diametrically opposed as to what American means as regards to war and the US armed forces.
Even if Hillary were commander in chief waging this war, most libs would iether shut up, or keep protesting. They would never support.
Again, this is not America's official stand, therfore, "unamerican", as Rush has labeled them.
enough on the issue of the war. I think you get it. Black Hawk down?

Let's move-on, dot org.

The Liberal stand on the environment:

Liberals, are forced by tradition to support anything that removes man from his surounding environment. Man to them, is the source of all degradation to the environment.
"Deforestaton"? Not when it means no deck for them!
"Environmentalist whackos" is what Rush calls this essential lobby group of the liberal base.
Because they think the snail darter is more important than man, but only in your back yard, not theirs! They want windmills EVERYWHERE, generating free electricity that they can tax...But not when it ruins their view off Martha's Vinyard!

They think "global warming is man's fault, and the reason for all the hurricanes, and GWB supports polution" and all that rot.
Rush and i do not. We happen to like the environment, and wish to conserve it and preserve it also--- just not at the expense of our children.
Draconian liberal restrictions have thwarted nuclear power plant, oil refinery, oil extraction construction everywhere they could, as oil dependance increases. An example of the liberal MODEL for America, would be present-day California. This is simply unacceptable to Rush's America, therefore, unamerican.

Legalised abortion, while outlawing capital punishment
Just as the other issues, many threads here have belabored this one.
Let's just say, Rush's America likes babies, hates killers, and shares no comradery with so-called "Americans" who do. This issue is go/no-go with us "ditto heads".

The demoralization of America through support and dependance upon the media and movie industry.
Simply-put: Americans must not cut their own throats, moreover, those of their children.
Attempots at Removing the word, "God" from my pledge of alligience? Try and remove or add ANYTHING in it, and be labeled "unAmerican" for life! Rush knows what it was before the 50's, and niether he or i really can do anything about that. We CAN stand in the left's way over any future revisions.
Listen to many of Rush's fellow talk-show hosts, and they blast the FCC for "censoring them". Bob-n-Tom address this daily, after they received a hefty fine for open profanity.Howard Stern moved to "pay-per-vent".
Even some conservatives find the FCC doing their job, as a breach of their cival rights and all that do. So it's "American" to be able to say whatever you while MY kids listen? Best not go there. Rush's opinion? It's UN-American to force the demoralization of the airwaves at the expense of the listener.
If you want to appeal to the gutter of America, fine. Go pay-per-view or sat-radio premium. But not on MY kid's picnic spinner in prime-time.

Which brings me to
CONSTITUTIONAL integrity:
Enough with the ammendments allready!!! Sure, this has little to do with your question, but so much to do with what Rush is all about. The left has ruled this country for years, from a position NEVER relegated to that job ---the bench. Rush has a problem with so-called "Americans" subverting the rule of law by legislating from the courts. Add to this, the obstructionism at every turn to at least, equalise the criminal influence oozing from this corrupt body like a carbuncle.
It truely is ruining what America was in Rush's world (and mine).

I hope this answered your question, Jtexas.
