Never had the pleasure, though I thought they were way cool. They were still being made when I was in my teens. They fizzled mostly because they sucked- based on a Triumph Herald sedan and running gear. Lousy car, lousy boat. Wouldn't keep me from owning one, tho.

One of those "so ugly it's cool" cars. We had a fella' who used to run one on our lake every now and again (think he drove over to it to show off every year or so). I've heard they were lousy cars, and you could tell it was a lousy boat. It musta' handled like a one finned whale.

But it was red, clever and he NEVER waited too long in line at the ramp

I did get to ride in one when I was very young (maybe 6). I thought it was the coolest thing on earth at the time. But that's probably due to the novelty of it. Wasn't really paying attention to how it performed as a car or a boat.

There is still one that shows up on my lake every season. I'm not sure if it's a resident or just a visitor but I do see him every year.
