Take what you have to almost any lawn mower repair shop and I bet they can fix you right up.

Yes, chainsaws are very popular also for doing that. Should be able to find someone to throw that thing together.

I have started stuff with drills before if it had a big bolt in it. You just pull it off when it starts, and don't start it at WOT-duh! Best to use a big drill though, like a half inch electric minimum. Maybe a big cordless if it has a low gear. That thing likely has little compression. Never use an impact, as it does what it is named for and impacts the bolt instead of turning it. Try starting a motor with a hammer; same thing.

What we need is a recumbant kickstarter! Any ideas?

anthonyh821; You don't have to be very mechanically inclined to rewind a starter spring. Just common sense and a little patience [?]. First figure out which direction to wind it then wind [with gloves], until it's tight, hold in this position and reinstall.

Or you can compare the $149.00 to the price of a cast for your arm. The price of a good manual is about 30 bucks and they have one whole section on rewind starters. GET A MANUAL! Happy Boating, Hal
