I have a 63 evinrude speedifour 75 HP. I have a question about drain holes. In the bottom how many are there and can someone provide pics? I think I have a crack

This sounds familiar. Have you asked the same question somewhere else about the drain hole where the upper and lower gearcase sections meet? If you are another inquirer, that hole is normal. I'm not sure we were able to convince the other guy.

It would be easier if you posted a pic of the "crack" that you are referring to. But F_R is probably correct, it's likely that odd-shaped drain hole at the junction.

Taylor, is this the hole you are worried about?

Yes guys that's the hole I was talking about. Why would they put another drain hole there?. I have a few more questions. There's a oily substance coming out of the other drain hole. What is it gear lube? Or spent fuel. Also are they terrible on gas? Thanks guys

The drain hole is there because it needs one there to drain the particular cavity. Can't tell if it is gear lube or exhaust oil drainage from here. If you are not getting water into the gearcase, don't worry about it. Are they terrible on gas? Depends on what you are comparing it to, but yes.

If I'm getting water in the gear case what would be the cause? Well I didn't even run like a whole day and ran thru six gallons of fuel
