Howdy folks

My '61 Lark III gearcase is dry and the bearings are locked with rust. Gears and bearing surfaces look good, or look cleanable/recoverable. So I'm looking for the bearings.

I am adamantly against paying marine supplier prices, though. I'd end up paying more for one bearing than I did for the entire motor.

For example:

Race is Timken 12520
Bearing is Timken 12580

I've seen prices of $70 +/- $10 for the OMC part number.
The Timken part numbers are about $25 +/- $5

Does anyone have the part numbers for the remaining bearings in the gearcase?

I make it a point to ref. timken or skf #s when I see them on OEM bearings. A lot of times cylindrical roller bearings don't have the skf/timken numbers on them. I'm in Canada I have used motion industries to find some in the past.

Possibly an AETNA 5204-P, but I haven't been able to find anything on that one other than a post here by Tim Frank
No one seems to have them.

If you can't find them or can't cross-reference them, you always have the option to measure them and find them that way. Just remember to measure them in MMs. As long as the outside diameter for the race is correct and the associated bearing has the correct diameter for the shaft, you're good to go.
