Anyone have sources for a pontoon hardtop kit via the web?

Looking to replace my bimini with a hard top, which I assume will last much longer than canvas.

Our Homeowner Assoc. rules do not allow any structures to cover boats (how stupid). So, now I'm looking for a hardtop as an alternative.

If you have an experience with them, and/or a source, I'd be appreciative.

I was sort of waiting to see if any one chimed in. I am considering adding one to mine but haven't found any sources other than making one my self and thats problem what I will do when the time comes, or find one from crags list.

Well, that's what I found. There are not any ready-made tops around. That's the reason for the question.

I'm in Florida, and that means a lot of sun and water. I 'spect a hardtop would be the best choice.

I've seen many pontoons with hard tops, but Goggle isn't finding any sources for me. I've considered building as well, but I suspect it'll result in an amateur look.

I too am watching craigslist, and not finding much.

In your area I would think you may be able to fine a decent one in a salvage yard.

Try to find an mid 1980's Starcraft pontoon, as many had hard tops. Also, check with Lanier Marine Liquidators to see if they have any on salvage boats. They have hundreds and hundreds of old boats.

Otherwise, you'll have to find a welding shop to fabricate one for you.

It's a shame that one of the companies making light fiberglass canopies for tractors and heavy equipment couldn't expand their molds to make a good pontoon hard top. But, they'd have to engineer corner poles to hold the tops up that wouldn't move around.

Homeowners assoc. no problem, MOVE LOL

I am glad I don't have to deal with no h.a.
I agree, I too would like to have a hard top. Hardtops are very hard to come by here. Ohio

My first pontoon had a hardtop. It was so heavy that it took too of us to raise or lower it. I decided then that I would not have another one.

My current pontoon has 2 bimimi tops, and we like them much better than the hardtop.

It would be pretty easy to do. But what size would you build to meet everyones requirements. 8ft wide or 8' 6" x ????
