I know of two instances at my marina where a stranger came to buy a boat and by the season's end, they were good friends.

If you are up front, and he is up front, then no problem. If he finds problems that he wants you to be liable for after the sale, then he never was a friend to begin with.

I agree. We bought the SeaRay from a friend and we had the outdrive rebuilt within a couple of years after we bought it. He felt bad, but I explained that it was not due to any neglect on his part. The wife kept the boat (her boat) in a slip for the summer, while I was deployed. Any neglect was on our part and not the the friend, who was the previous owner.

If a sale of anything disrupts a friendship, then there was already a flaw (friendship or personal) that was just waiting to be exposed.
