I have 2 motors both merc 1000

1969 100 hp merc 1000 from what I can tell BP model?

1964 100 hp merc 1000 from what I can tell E model?

are the bottom ends interchangeable?

And does anyone know the difference between them if any?

A BP has a different mid section and comes with a BP racing lower unit ...

A 64 engine will have the throttle and gearshift cables connected out side the cowling, on 1965 and later, the cables were connected inside of the cowl. Midsections would be different, too, even on regular production engines.
If one of your engines is a Bridgeport, there will be many differences, some visible, others not.

Didn't Bridgeports come out in the mid-80's? V6 vs Inlines 6's.

If bottom end you mean lower unit, yes it is.
Mid section not to sure, I"m using a lower unit from a 1969 1000 on my 1964 850 since 2012 swap in.
HTH...

Thank you everyone for the welcome and all the help! Greatly appreciated.

yes I am talking about lower unit.

when putting the original or 1965 lower end on it goes in almost all the way but an inch. I have it in reverse as I was told it was easier to install this way.
not sure what I am doing wrong.

the motors are serial numbers

1665107

and

2575633

I dont know for sure that one is BP and one is E. From looking up serial numbers is where I got that from.

anyone know where I can replace the copper tube inside? When trying to put bottom end on I bent it...opps

I have incuded pictures of the motor and both bottom ends. I put them in my idea book? Hopefully everyone can see them there. I cant seem to upload on here.

the 2575633 is the motor that sits on the boat.

the bottom end with prop attached is from 1665107 which is the one I would like on there.

both ends do the same thing go in all but 1 inch.
