BE careful what you write: This is the internet and Google has a free translator, Swedish to English. LOL

I prefer grade 8 bolts, 2 of them. Either that, or use one of those connectors made to hook 2 chains together with the pin on either end. And don't use regular s hooks either. You're going to the expense of using a heavy chain, why would you skimp on using inferior connectors on the end? Pay attention to the working load ratings on everything you use.

In addition, having the chains in a X can help keep the trailer hitch from hitting the pavement in the event the trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle. It forms a cradle that catches the trailer tongue...with any luck...

I have heard that some states require the chains to be crossed to form the cradle; I have some long chains that require a lot of crossing to accomplish that. But if your trailer drops to the pavement, even if connected, and the tongue catches into a pothole or whatever, and digs in, it's all over.

As for the French lesson, mercy buckets.

Does your trailer have a swing tongue?

My swing tongue trailer only had "the" (as in single) cable attached to the main trailer frame . That seemed like a recipe for disaster if the trailer ever came unhitched, so I used 5/16" chain bolted to the main trailer frame and then the tongue, with the thickest bolts that would fit through the links. I used a couple of quick links instead of hooks. (Have to remove quick links while parked or the neighborhood kids steal them...)
