Anyone Southern California want/need a fishing buddy?

I don't have many friends that are into fishing so I don't have many people to go with. It's not quite the same when I take my boys out...they fish and I get to bait, untangle, get lunch, ... which is great to spend time with my kids; but dad likes to fish too.

I'd like to go freshwater and saltwater fishing in So. Cal. I live in Pomona, which is about 35 miles east of L.A. There's still a lot I need to learn but would love to go out.

Well..............if you buy the plane ticket, pay for room and board. I'd be happy to come out there and show you a few things. :D. The water is starting to get hard here.

You just need to change the tools that go with your tackle box. Instead of a boat, you need a lawn chair, really warm clothes and am ice saw...

I'll check with the finance department of the house and get back to you on the airfare and housing. We just had a storm come through last night and got chilly...there was frost out this morning. I imagine a little different than a December in Indiana.

I agree, you should get a tackle box that will fit a chaing saw and 5-gallon bottle of propane.

Just wondering, do you have a boat???

If you do I'm all packed and ready to go. How about right after new year's?

Aren't you glad you joined iboats?:p

Wow, you guys are the best. Yup, just for a 21' Bayliner Capri with the 4.3L. I plan on taking out to do a little ocean fishing with my boys once I get a bait bag. I think our winter is like your spring/fall in Ill.

Funny, We are both looking for the same thing. Your in Southern California looking for a fishing buddy in Southern California. I'm in Canada, looking for a fishing buddy in Southern California. What a coincidence!

Haha...I can seat 8 so I guess we'll wait for four others to chime in. Where in Canada? The best fishing I've done was in Alaska, which has the waters as Canada. It was funny the first time I went up there...what I thought was a good fish they considered bait fish.

Maybe we can make our way along the southern coast of the U.S. to Georgia. I'm sure my wife would be happy to have me gone for a month or two.

Call me when you get to Wilmington, NC, and I will meet you halfway and fish on to GA, or even Jacksonville, FL...;)

Ice saw? Chain saw? Ice AUGER and you DRILL holes. Unless you're spear fishing for Northerns(that's a fish, not northerners!) then you cut a big hole with a chainsaw. 5gal propane? Around here, nothing less than 20gal..... You year round, warm weather folk........... Sheeesh..... :D

Had to quit plowing for now. Started coming down hard again. Although, we only received about 6".

If you still have room in that boat, put me down for Feb. I should be sick of winter by then......

Heck I think I could grab the tarp on the boat, with this wind we have right now, and fly out for free.

Seriously tho...we have a local forum geared towards Lake St Clair, where the folks post 'open seat{s} available' seems to work quite well, with some just wanting to help another fisherperson get out...to others looking for splitting costs in these hard times...might be worth looking around your neck of the woods for something similar.

LET'S GO.

California to Georgia in a boat, what a hoot.

But, ........ how do we get to the intercoastal waterway which
doesn't start until Texas (i think) from the pacific ocean?
I guess we'll just have to go down to the panama canal.
You did say your wife would be happy to have you gone for how long?

aspeck will the "bargeliner" make this trip?
Something tells me your not going.:D

On the other hand, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.:p

any time your thinking of heading north to the Ventura area, look me up in advance and I'll be up for fishing, and I have a boat, if you don't want to drive yours. either way, we'll fish!

What type of fishing do you do in Ventura? I was camping at Point Magu, Sycamore Canyon, about a month ago with my boys and loved it. It's 90 miles from where I am and a great place for mountain biking and going to the beach.

Kids loved it too, I'm hoping to go back in a couple months with the wife this time.

Re: Anyone Southern California want/need a fishing buddy?

Sorry for the late reply, I drift for halibut, try for calico bass when water temp is good, some of those & sand bass still hit this time of year, but few and far between, and of course rock fishing. I like to fish out of Santa barbara mostly, 30 min further up the coast from ventura, but I trailer up there and launch from the harbor. point mugu rock is one of my favorite poverty fishing spots {when I can't afford to go on mine, or a party boat} and fish from the rocks
