Just bought a burgundy 1989 boat and the gel coat has bloomed, and gone cloudy. Seen things like presto advertised on the net and just wondered if they do what they say on the tin and how long the finish lasted?

I can't comment on that particular product, but there are others out there that work in a similar manner. Personally I do NOT like them. I am sure others have used them and been happy, but my opinion is the best thing to do is give it a good wetsanding (1000 grit) and buff. You'll get a better appearance and providing you stay on top of the annual buffing and waxing it will look great for many years. These "magic" products have a tendency to look decent for a short time then turn blotchy after a couple of years. Just my 2 cents....

Having worked in a paint shop when was 16 I agree with both of you, but times and technology change and now i'm a little older if I can avoid hard work I will. Thanks for your comments. Maybe over the winter i'll get the 'wet and dry' out. just hope I can keep the euthusiam to get round the whole boat. 21foot is starting to seem very much larger...
