I have a Kitchen Aid gas stove with pilotless ignition. Last night with every thing turned off the igniters started firing off on their own. All the surface burner controls were off, so there was no gas present. I ended up having to turn off the circuit breaker in order to get it to stop. The unit is about 5 years old. Any thoughts???

Hmmmm? Waiting to hear responses.

5 yrs ago I installed a propane powered cook top. (all electric neighborhood). A few times our stove failed to ignite, but it turned out that things were wet from cleaning. As soon as all dried out, it worked fine.

I've been paranoid for the day that something like this would happen

WizeOne is closer to the truth than he thinks. I have known three pilotless ignitions that would fire when they were damp from cleaning and two that would not fire when wet.

Kitchen Aid and Kenmore would fire until dried out, Majic Chef and a house brand just sat there until dry.

Pull the knobs, point a hair dryer at the switches underneath and dry away.

Use a damp, but not wet cloth to clean and soak up boil overs immediately.
