Bit of history - bought the boat after it sat for two years.
It had 1/2 tank gas in it. I put two bottles of heet, a bottle of octane/cloeaner, filled hte tank up......

With o ther issues we never had the boat out for any super length of time.

Then I put a 17" pitch prop on - it's too small but the 21" was too big.

So finally boating season is here and we take the boat out yesterday, launched at silverdale and went 7 miles to Bremerton.

Had dinner and came back and about 3/4 of the way back after slowing down to check out some scenery I put back to WOT (we ran at 4000 rpm actually when WOT is 4800) - we began losing power.

The tach showed we had the revs but you could tell we didn't have the power.
I had 4 people in the boat and later found out I still had a LOT of water in the upper bilge area from last years torrential rains (It did feel heavy).....

I'm thinking it's got to be in the carb, I've got a new dist cap, new plugs/rotor, and I did put a new accelerator pump on the carb.

I also put a water removal filter (Mercury brand) on last weekend.

It's only sluggish under a load, it idles fine and apparantly only when it's warmed up.

Temp guage showed 175, normal, never changed really.

One other issue is that the tube under the exhaust manifold that goes to the heat exchanger is leaking AT the heat exchanger but it's maybe a heavy fine mist at this point, maybe a dribble......

Any ideas would be nice, was still a fun day but I'm afraid to venture b eyond the 8 mile mark right now :D

Your fuel and water seperator may be doing it's job. Remove the filter and pour the contents into a pan and see if there is any contamination in the fuel.
