AQ 151 raw water pump seal retainer

I have a '90 AQ 151 that is leaking from the raw water intake tube at the pump (sucking air and over heating). I found that the flange is there but it is missing the retainer (?) that goes over the rubber seal to hold it in place. It looks like they only come with the pipe. I don't feel like spending $275 just for a 50 cent part but am having a tough time finding a washer or some other solution to remedy this. Does anyone have a fix for this?
