Man sorry to hear about your pulley. Picklenjim shot you straight most times you get near through and the sleeve will pop and let you remove it easily. Maybe this is the last obstacle in your road, I hope so. Good luck man.

well might as well get the water pump and finish it all!!!! anybody know part numbers from napa or kragen for the pulley and water pump (if its same as car)?? im on my way to florida!!! 10 hours of flying, yay!!!

Kind of seems like someone may have had this off before and didn't reinstall it correctly. Hopefully it didn't spin on the crank and fuse the two together.

nope didnt spin, my neighbor is putting liquid wrench on it everyday for me while im gone... hopefully it just falls off when i get home

No idea why they want so much for it from VP. Maybe they're gold plated? I suspect that it's not worth their while to stock parts for engines so long out of production. There are quite a few of the automotive versions of those engines around so I'm just guessing that there is more of a demand for repair parts in that market.

Like anything else, it's going to be up to you to find out if those parts will work. You have to get inventive if you want to keep these older boats running.

well i just ordered one for a b230, seems like the exact one for sure... fits all b230 blocks, ill try it... all it needs to do is timing and pully.. thanks...

well just talked to a volvo nutcase, and he said they should be exactly the same... he also said the waterpump is the same other than an epoxy paint that VP did to stop rust... is this true??? mines covered in oil nasty oil from the cam seal leak.... i guess i should change the crank oil seal as well, or is it if it aint broke dont fix it??

You're right there, change the crank seal too. The volvo B23 auto pump is tha same. As is the Damper.

can you use a torch,i cut bearings off shafts at work all the time.after one month no puller is moving them.cut it across the shaft,not lengthwise then just peel away the layers if you can get fire proof blankets great if not soak a bunch of rags and place them all around ares so sparks will be contained.also have garden hose primed and ready plus have a fire watch standing over you in case.if you aren't good with torch find someone who is they will cut it off in 5 min.

thanks for the info, yeah the crank pulley is really tight in the compartment. i think were going to pull the motor and do it right... i cant freaking wait to go fishing!!!!!

somebody knows what he is doing could cut that pulley off in ten minutes,save you a whole bunch of work.not the kid across the street but someone in a metal fab shop.have them show you they can cut on practice piece,that's what i would do but i would cut myself. anyhow good luck and happy fishing you deserve it!

well, i dont know what the hell or if god was giving me love, but i went out there and pulled it right off with my hands... i basically stared at it for a good 2-3 minutes and was on my way to grab a beer...

now off to the timing belt, i want to replace the crank seal but i cant get the timing gear off, the seal is still good, it was dry and clean in there...

hopefully going to have it all back together tonight.. also for anybody needing to know if the car damper is the same, it is, 51 bucks... also the water pump is also the exact same...

well, after playing and cleaning, most of everything is ready to be put back together, my only problem is im worried about the timing actually being off, seems like it could have jumped pretty easily due to the cam gear was filled with nasty grime inside the teeth, the crank was kinda dirty, and the secondary (dist/oil pump) was pretty clean... the belt was pretty loose too... but like an idiot i pulled it off before checking due to the pulley not coming off... anyhow, ill report any good and bad...
