Good afternoon all i have a 25ft 707 performance with twin AQ211a V8 engines in the rear with dual props, The problem i need some advice with is the removal of the trim rams / cylinders as two out of the four are seized. Both the legs are off as I?m going to change bellow etc whilst sorting out the rams / cylinders, I can get at the retaining 10mm bolts on the in side but cant see enough behind the engines even with the heat exchangers removed to see the other end of the pin, i take it is on the inside as i cant see it on the outside?. I can get new rams / cylinders at ?550 a pair if any one know where I can get a better deal please do tell but cant find anywhere to rebuild them.

You can't see the other end of the pin, it's a blank end.
Best thing to do is after removing the 10mm bolts, is to thread the bolt back into the end of the pin, instead of the housing, and using a screw driver pry the pin out.......... If you are very lucky.
There is a special tool for using grease to pop the pins loose, but I have never had any luck with it. When they are stuck, I usually end up pulling the transom shield out of the boat and using heat and a slide hammer to remove the pins.
Go to this link. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2360521#post2360521 and download the service manual for the 280 to DP-C outdrives and look at page 142 to 144.

I also find wailing and gnashing of teeth help as well.
sometimese the pins are tough to extract.
like DonS I have never seen the grease impact tool work outside the school house.
and sometimes shield removal is the only way.

Hi Don S seeing the boat hasn?t done a lot of work only 500 hours and has spent most of its life on the trailer lets hope I'm going to have a lucky day or not as the case maybe seeing the rams are well seized, do you know what size bolt screw in to the end of the pin once the 10mm bolts out of the housing as I might be able to make up some form of puller

It's the same size as the retaining bolt, I don't recall the size.
