me again!

Are the ht leads a common problem as i still have a loss of power and the engine surges under load
it will not rev right up when given full throttle
and when you go flat out it holds back but seems intermitent but seems fine out of water and has no idle problems.

all ok
carbs checked.
spark checked when out of water.
fuel lines and tank.
timing.
all electric wire conections.

or could it be the coil packs $$$

the engine is a Mariner 50 1991 ish

Put a timing light on each wire, one at a time, and have someone run it at night while you look to see if you are getting consistant spark on all cylinders when this problem occurs.

Replace them? Ignore them? Buy another motor and let somebody else worry about them?

Put an ohmmeter on them and see if they have continuity. Look at the insulation for damage. With the motor running, run a grounded 12v test light along them to see if they arc anyplace (you won't blow the bulb in the test light).
