Do 'ya ever just get sick and tired of working on something and spending money on it for seemingly no gain. Ever felt like selling out and forgetting the whole experience?

Youngin' was at his grandmothers last night, so the wife and I decide to go for a little starlight cruise. Never got off the trailer. Attempted to crank the motor, and the carb would flood out.

Did this on Labor Day, I just drained the bowl into a paper towel and she ran fine. I know I caused it by over-pumping the primer bulb. No biggie. Went fishing on Tuesday, she idled kinda rough, but ran.

And then last night..... I drained the bowl, she would crank, stumble along for a few seconds, then spit gas out and die. Three times I did this. Finally gave up and went home.

What really irritates me, a buddy from work and I are planning on going fishing Thursday. Have too many other things to do to work on the boat between now and then.

Oh, well, I should get busy on those other things, instead of sitting here typing and ranting.

Yep, get that feeling more than I care to admit...but once you shift her into gear and drop the hammer...all is forgotten

You could be sitting there with a no start, needing a $200 scan tool just to see what is wrong, not to mention real expensive parts.

Take an hour, pull the carb, clean the chit out of the needle valve, throw in a 5 buck gasket kit, quit complaining and go fishing.

Its all part of the hobby. I would rather be working on my boat than the wifes car anytime .

A ton of years ago when fixing up cars I switched from needle and seat to Carter carbs with metering rods for that same reason.

I have an old 140 Merc now so hopefully my blashemy doesn't come back to bite me

I knew this going in and have been working the used boat kinks out of my Charger since the day I bought it. Bought it in February and have had to...

New lower unit and prop...prop shaft sheared after dragging bottom on an unfamiliar lake. Covered under insurance and it was underpropped anyway causing it to burn WAY too much gas.

Didn't come with a front depth finder so $165 for a new Lowrance x125 off fleabay.

Carbs and fuel pumps redone-$550

Rear depth/gps unit went out so trated my lms332c in for an hds5 that should be here in a couple days-$400 through Lowrance direct.

2 new trailer tires

Somehow a spindle got bent so am going to drop a new axle under it this winter WITH ELECTRIC BRAKESAdd another pair of new trailer tires and possibly some new rims for the hell of it.

Put new runners on the trailer

Chased down numerous wiring ghosts that involved me and my buddy to cuss, argue, and contort in positions no husky German should have to be in. Now we know why most car audio installers are skinny and lanky. One thing I learned a couple years ago is if the old wiring has no rhyme or reason with a thousand splices you're best off just pulling fresh. That's where me and my buddy argue so much when it comes to wiring.

On a good note everything else seems solid. A mechanic friend just rebuilt his first 2-stroke powerhead for a 150hp Johnson GT so we'll see how he did shortly. His car and 4-stroke marine engines seem to hold up fine. This way all I'll be out is parts when my powerhead decides to fail. Hopefully that won't be for a few years and I run ethanol free only. How the previous 2 owners treated it is anyones guess and under the oil tank cap was supertech blue.
