Greetings,
I got a great deal on this motor, checked water impellor, and now cannot re-assemble the darn lower unit properly.

I can get it together by locking the shift lever UP with the lower's vent screw , then loosening the vent screw to allow the shift lever to move downward as I tighten the lower unit back into place.

Then, the lower's vent screw either will not seat properly due to a flattened portion of the shift, or I will not be able to get into neutral.

By rotating the shift shaft, various hollows appear thru the vent hole, but they don't appear to be lined up properly for re-assembly.

Thanks in advance, I know I need to be in neutral to line everything up, and I don'think the lower is in neutral, as the drive shaft turns prop no matter where shift shaft is up or down. The darn thing worked before I tried to fix it. :)

Jeff
