assembly of my shift control on my mercury115(1984)

Can someone please help,i have disconnected my shift control on my engine and have forgotten how it goes back together,the throttle connection is straight forward,the shift i have a plastic glider and a cap which screws on to something.

I have a 90 and I beleive the cap you are talking about goes on the stud of the shift linkage. Then the shift cable slides down onto the smooth post in front of the stud, then turn the cap to hold the shift cable down. I have a picture, will try to find and post for you.
