Re: astounding?!

Coffee,,,,,I never leave home without it in the morning.

Yeah, something just not right at that waffle house. Most eating establishments make more money off the beverages than food. With my job, if anything that breaks down in preparing, cooking, and dispensing is a priority. That is why our stores have mulitple 60oz coffee makers. If one breaks down, there are several others to use until its fixed on the spot or replaced.

Maybe your complaint will get you a free cup of coffee,,,,,or maybe even a whole breakfast :D

Re: astounding?!

Nope, no offer of free nothing. Is why I sent the email to corporate.

I did make sure that Waffle House website was plainly visible to the server while I was at the table.;)

Other than that the only thing I said was my original "astounding" comment when I first walked in (besides ordering that is).

Maybe elsewhere waffle houses are better than they are around here, but around here, they are known as the awful waffle... and you don't eat there unless you don't have any other choice.

Re: astounding?!

Sounds like you are in Canada.

I used to try a little experiment when in Canada. If I had to beg a wait person for a second (or even at times a first cup of coffee) I would not tip them. If they would offer a second cup without prompting, I would tip extravagantly.

Even after multiple visits to the same restaurant, it always amazed me in most cases they never seemed to understand the correlation between giving service and the tip amount. Once in a great while, someone would figure it out.

Not bashing Canada. Lots of things I really like about Canada. The service in restaurants is not one of them, for some reason.

Re: astounding?!

Yes i got it. Cup held under the drip about halfway through the pot, turned out to be a decent cup too.

I forgot to check the motel coffee the night before and found only De-cafe the morning which didn't help the attitude much to begin with.

After all, druggies need their drugs no matter the type.:D:D:D

Response from Waffle House.
Plus my original message at the bottom.

I'm not looking for anything just curious as to how they act.

Stupid kid stuff and even stupider manager for letting it happen.

Just walked into your restaurant here and ordered coffee. I was informed that I had to wait on them too MAKE the coffee first.

There were 3 tables occupied. with the waiter joking with one of the tables.

A WAFFLE HOUSE!

No coffee, nothing but empty pots?

Rest assured there will be no tip for the waiter after breakfast

Re: astounding?!

That IS astounding.

Waffle House is pretty upscale around here, but any local 24/7 joint has plenty of great coffee ready at 0500. Strong enough to hide the taste of the food, too.

Re: astounding?!

Alway's thought the only time to go to a Waffle House, was after the Bars close.

Then, bad food and poor service did not seem to matter. :)

This is exactly my memory of that 'restaurant' (...maybe not really the right term). When I'm half starved I might go in there for a glass of water....make that a bottle of water.
Sarge...you're right...Awful house. This should have been in Turin's thread on bad restaurant experiences.

Re: astounding?!

This is one of the better ones. I use it when up in Gainesville because it is the only 24 hr on that particular motel strip.

Waffle house is a limited menu place so you can't really expect a whole lot.:)
