(i had saved the post you wrote to someone else -but with the new filing system i cant access that post)
----------------------------
im getting ready to drill the hole for the elbow, what i remember is to drill one of the flat sides of water jacket on starboard side 1/2in back.
?/ \ <-- .
-
now what side is better, the outside i have the
<-- pointing to, or the ?.
or does it even matter, i know i just need to make sure the hose will get to overboard T & not get in the way of powerpac.
-
the other is that- its not all that thick in that area, concern is that hole mite affect head gasket at some point if it over heats.
-
only you know for sure. thanx

Either side is OK. I've seen it on each side but it really makes no difference.

The head gasket will never know the fitting is there.

Good luck!

thanx
didnt know if one side was easier than the other - in the hose routing dept/hood being taken on & off.
-
too bad there isnt one directly behind the rectifier.
i was looking at the center water jacket on the other 2 blocks i have.
with the flywheel off it looks to be easy.

havent drilled hole yet, but my engine hoist came over ( 2 6ft 9in 300lb redneck swamp boys) to lift motor onto housing.
-
used 2 bolts to hold gasket in place along with stud. seems just a little (1/16 to 1/32) to one side, but all bolts went in no problem- so i hope it will be ok.
-
gotta finish venting upgrade, along with t-stat upgrade.
then wire it up.

We always went for the highest spot on the block which is right above #1 cylinder. The old CCC race motors were vented next to that area.
