Will they break the anticavitation plate??
I have a '88 Evin, 60hp, that came with the 2 piece Attwood foils. I'm new to boating, since March, and a fishing buddy told me that I should have a one piece foil, like the aluminum whale tail, and that the 2 piece plastic/rubber ones will break the plate they're bolted to.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

Search the hydrofoil threads. This question comes up every two weeks. Many like myself are passionate hydrofoil haters but there's a few here that run smaller outboards that like them. They just haven't stepped into the light yet...

Urban legend. They have been on the market for 35 years. Consumers rapidly weed out inferior products and bad companies go out of business in a hurry.

I am an avid foiler adn have run one for 8 years I would rather have a 1 peice if given my choice but it has been on the boat for how long and not broken so I think you are okay.

I run a 1 peiace aluminum one that I made myself.
