Re: Automotive to Marine project - Chevy 305.

Alright, so I hit a detour on the project. Moved out of state unexpectedly and was trying to get it fixed up somewhat to get rid of her, but alas, other things took priority.

Going to be plumbing out the manifolds to the tips which are now fiber-glassed in. The tips have flaps on them, and I am wondering if that would be enough. Should I be looking to put some sort of flapper inside the 3" exhaust hose I picked up?

Thanks for the info, I'll post some follow up pics of the progress soon.

un-muffled thru hulls aren't legal where I live. If you are moving, maybe check if they can be used where you are going.

We've at least converted over to marine water cooled manifolds at this point, correct?

Yes, so far;

Old manifolds are out, Marine manifolds are going in Thursday.
Flame arrestor is in.
The Gigantic 4" Exhaust tips that were held in with 50 lbs of silicon were pulled, 3" tips with flappers on the outside were glassed in.

I ended up pulling the manifolds off last night since putting the risers on while the manifolds are on is a huge pain in the ***....

I want to make sure that the flapper on the tip is sufficient, or if I should look into getting a flapper that I can put in the 3" flex wall exhaust hose I picked up.

Sounds good.
Alternator, HEI distributor, and starter are going to be ditched for marine pieces too, right?

Yeap, those will get swapped moving forward as well. Not looking forward to paying for a new Distributor.
