Avoiding motor damage from freezing?

This time of the year I am usually sitting on the ice....ice fishing.....however this year has been pretty mild & thes ice is either not safe or some of the lakes have NO ice. I am thinking of getting the little fishing boat back out but since I live in Wyoming the weather can change on a dime (60 one day & below zero the next)!
My question is ..... I have a outboard that has already been winterized for the winter. If I take it out again, what is the best way to keep it protected from freezing without fully winterizing it everytime until summer gets here to avoid anything freezing & motor damage??? It is currently stored in a barn now.

Ayuh,.... Generally speakin', outboard motors completely drain themselves as soon as it's out of the water, in it's runnin' position,...

As in full down, not trimmed, nor tilted,...

No problem . Just tilt it down to get the water out. But if you fogged it like I do then your going to burn off all your oil that you put in.

I have used my outboard up to early Nov. and then again in early March w/o fogging and haven't experienced any difficulties. About 4 months of sitting. If it were to sit longer than that I might have a different opinion. If you get periods of warm weather then you could always just run it now and then also.

After you get done using it and it's cold turn the motor over a couple of times to get the water out of the water pump.
