I've inherited an '85 Suzuki 140hp (bought new in '87) that hasn't been run in ~15 years. Engine may have 30 hours total run time prior to the big sleep. Have read JB's informative post in FAQ's and others on general steps to awaken this engine. Was wondering if anyone has specific suggestions for how to clean up/restore the auto oil injection system? Actually my biggest fear is the condition of the cylinder walls. Does Marvel Mystery Oil work as well on 2 strokes as it does on all of the 4 stroke engines I've worked on?

The carburetors will probably need to be cleaned and rebuilt. Run the engine on premix until you have verified that the oil injection system is working properly. It might be a good idea to replace the vinyl oil injection lines and clean the check valves in the oil lines, certainly have a look to make sure the oil lines aren't cracked and stiff. Replace the water pump impeller and change the oil in the lower unit.

Me personaly I would do away with the oil injection system completly. If you mix your oil you know it is there. The carbs should definatly at least be cleaned, rebuilt would be better. If they are clogged or tarnished you run the risk of running lean and you guessed it boom.

Yeah, I kinda figured on doing all of the stuff that "JB" mentioned in his FAQ post. I was thinking that the oil injection system worked well once, eliminates the hassle of mixing. Should be able to disassemble and flush, replace hoses, etc. Other than carbs and lower unit, have never opened a 2 stroke boat motor top end up. Wondering what the cylinders might look like, (rust, etc.) and if I'm just dreaming to think I can bring this thing back to life. Wouldn't fool with it if it didn't have such low hours before it was put into a coma. Thanks for your help/input.

Maybe you could take the plugs out and squirt some fogging oil in and spin the motor without the plugs in to see if it is frozen.
