4.3 LX GEN+ talked to guy at Ebasic. i have oringial manifolds. he said i had to replace complete exhaust system all the way to the stearn, including Y pipe.$1593. i don't think so. need opinions. i think i only need to go from heads to y pipe.

I'm just Guessing here,..... You're trying to replace the 1pc. manifolds with the more common 2pc. units,..???.....

I'm pretty certain that it's doable with the Manifolds, Risers, Rubber couplers,+ the Cast Iron Elbows,......
Which should line up with the Y-pipe you have Now.........

Re: back to my exhaust manifolds

marine part.com just quoted almost $1300, and they want to include the Y pipe also. What broke? port side is letting water go where it ain't suppose to go. original manifolds are not available, so i have to convert. just can't justify replacing a good Y pipe.

Why didn't you mention you had batwings... Don't know how much of a hurry you are in... call GLM for availability...

Re: back to my exhaust manifolds

If you have the ability to pull the engine to replace the Y pipe, go for it. But if you have to pay to have the Y pipe replaced, then you will be better off just replacing 1 piece manifolds with like parts.
One other thing to look at, is this. How long do yo plan on having that boat? Will new ones last 5 to 8 years? will you want to get a bigger boat?
If you plan on getting a bigger boat. Stick with the cheapest method.

BATWINGS ok that's what they are. i'd love to replace them, much easier than retro fitting. have emailed GLM for availabity. every site i 've seen says they are not, and used ones could be as bad as the ones i have. how long am i going keep it i have not idea. this is the 4th boat in my yard right now. they are not for sale but if someone makes the right offer all but one could be sold. i'll never sell my 63 lonestar.

Re: back to my exhaust manifolds

If it's a salt water boat I can see needing all those parts.

Re: back to my exhaust manifolds

here's the new scoop. apparently merc issue advisory not to convert 2 piece 3" riser. it causes too, much back pressure. Doug Russell. com. has the batwings. for $800.ea. GLM does not know when they will release theirs. Any other sources for Batwings OEM #51260 Starboard 51262Port.
