Re: Bad Advice? - No option!

Here we go.
I think I have a TieDown unit. (LP7000)?
(probably why UFP have ignored me)!

Snobs. Okay, since you're not exactly conveniently located in terms of shipping I would suggest you go ahead and order wheel cylinders in addition to the master, and while you're at it you might as well get bearings and inner seals too unless they're readily available in your neck of the woods. At the very least you'll have to replace the inner seals, and no more than bearing sets cost it will be good to have spares on hand.

Re: Bad Advice? - No option!

Thats excellent bruceb58. I'll try and get the whole thing from champion.

All ordered!
I think it's a good deal at $199 all in.
For this I get the whole unit so I shouldn't have any suprises.

Thanks to you all for your advice and search help.
Make sure you're all around when it comes to fitting it!:)

The whole unit is so much easier to replace.

Good call!

A quick update:

Before I found and purchased the complete actuator online, I emailed the Regional Sales Manager for Tie Down Engineering and asked for advice on where to get the parts.
Check out his response;
Marco,
You would need to contact Tracker for that part. That is an exclusive part that only Tracker can supply.
You will not be able to find it online anywhere.

Thank you,

My response;
Thanks Roy but you are wrong.
The actuator is made by the company you work for and proudly displayed on your Tie Down Engineering web site.
For your information, I have just bought a complete replacement unit online.

I really would have expected a more informed answer than yours.

Thanks anyway.

Regards,

Marco

Re: Bad Advice? - No option?

I've finally received my Tie Down brake actuator replacement from Champion Trailers.
Problem is the actuator has come fitted with a reverse solenoid which my trailer doesn't have:confused: AND it's broken.:mad:

Does anyone know if I can simply not use this part or do I need to replace it first then not use it?
For reversing, I use the manual reverse pin.

I have asked Champion Trailers to replace the broken part but they are ignoring my emails. I had great communication with them originally but now it's non existent.

I'd appreciate your help.

You would have to find a plug that could thread in there at least for the time being until you received a new solenoid.

You also might try using an ez-out on the broken fitting in the solenoid first and then just get a new fitting.

Remove the 2 pieces and go to the local hardware store or automotive parts house and get a new fitting. Hopefully you could find that where you are with the same threads. Take the soloniod off of the rubber hose and assemble back to the actuator then reattach the hose. Then get a plug for the tow vehicle that has the fifth wire to hook up to the backup lights and you won't need to put in the manual pin everytime you back up.
