I recently replaced the rectifier on my 1987 Johnson 88 spl due to the fact that it was fried. Afterwards I noticed when I put multimeter on the battery while it was running the battery was at 12.2 volts but then when I shut off the motor it dropped to 11.9 and an hour later it was down to 11.7. I installed a perko switch and turned it to off as soon as I shut off the motor. My question is would a bad battery be the reason for the drop in volts when the perko switch is off? It seems like both the rectifier and stator are doing their job becuase the battery is at 12.2 volts when running. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
