I have a buddy with a 95 200hp mariner. He says its missing some at idle and some at high speed. He took it to a reputable boat mechanic and had it all checked out. All carbs checked thru all coils ,compression check great, the guy went thru it all and says he thinks the crank has a hairline crack in it causing it to skip time occassionally causing it to miss but he wont be sure until he would tear it down. Question.... any of u guys heard of this problem coming from the crankshaft??

Re: Bad Crank?

Horsehocky. If it were cracked, it'd have broken by now. Nothing ignition-related comes from the crankshaft. The closest connection is the Flywheel.
