I recently bought a 1977 Mercury 1150, ran some tests to find that the distributor is bad (well...the trigger). I’ve been looking for a distributor with no luck. My question is does anybody know where to find used parts for these things?

Thanks,
Joe D.

You can look up the part number for the distributor at the crowleymarine site. Then search for that. I think CDI Electronics still makes them. ebay likely sells them, as well. Not sure I would buy a used one, unless I knew it to be good.

Remember not to try to remove the rotor, or it will be another $200+ if you break it.

Ok thanks, I am going to remove the distributor first and visually inspect it. Is there a test for just the trigger? I would like to know before I spend $400 on one.

Do not buy used as all suffer from the same fate of rotten wires or if you take the chance make sure seller will back the the part is good and works..

Found a trigger for $360, ordered it yesterday. I’ll post an update when it is installed. Thanks for everyone’s help!
