This happened last month when we had some storms roll through the area. This is on Lake Lewisville, TX at the Lakeview Marina. Last weekend, we were out at the party cove and talking to a guy that lost his boat. Thing that sucks is he only had liability unbeknown to the lien company. He now owes $12,000 on a boat that is destroyed...

Oh, I agree and don't feel sorry for the guy at all. I made a comment that it sucked that it sank but that he should have protected himself and his lien holder.

I told him that is what insurance is for. I am bettig that something WILL happen and the insurance co is betting that something will NOT happen. In his case, he was trying to save about $30 a month.

He is going to try to get the marina to help but he's got no chance.... The marina even has a weather clause in the contracts. I told him that he will ultimatley cause them to raise the rates and no other local marina will rent him a slip..

The storm sucks, the lunacy of no insurance.....well that speaks for itself.

I used to have a lot at Lake Granbury. The same storm broke one of the docks we used loose and it drifted to the middle of the channel. Sorta made me glad I had moved my boat.

They had a storm a few years back on the lake I go to most. Alan Jackson or Travis Tritt or some country star( i'm not a country fan so i'm not quite sure ) has a lake house and was iving a free concert from on top of his party barge, when a big storm rolled in and a few boats that were tied together went down. I wasn't there but they say the strom rolled in real fast a caught everyone by surprise, forcast called for chances of rain but nothing of this magnitude.

About the guy not having full coverage is crazy to me. The one pleasent surprise I got with the whole cost of boat ownership was how cheap full coverage was for me. Sure I have a pretty old boat but 322 a year seems awesome.
