Your boat is a little different than our 202, but I can tell you on that boat that ANY application of tab slowed the boat at higher speeds. At 50+mph the hull itself provided plenty of lift and the tabs just produced additional drag. The 192 has a little more beam though so, as they say, your mileage may vary.

I am not too worried about the top end. (I don't want to get rid of it.. but..) I would rather have good "out of the gate" power, and mid-range cruise. I did notice at the lake last time out I was doing a slight porpusing motion at times. That drove me nuts more than anything. If the tabs will get er out of the water quick and keep me a float at lower speeds I will give em a try.

By the way.. Anyone interested in my Laser II 23p RH. prop? I am interested in trades (based on the 4 blades mentioned in my thread) I have it on ebay right now under the following item number: 330577260477 or this link..

:D...I just have to grin a bit...No matter what tab one selects in the end all they do is extend the transom and create lift. Yes you can purchase tabs that one can control the depth they run at, might there be small gains at certain speeds yes ...very marginal at best but if the surface area is the same there is no difference between a 100 pair of tabs and a thousand dollar pair...@ wot they are equals. In this case the Baja has a deep v and is heavy so if one extends the hull thru tabs it will gain some lift and less wetted surface area the result is speed wether that is a big gain or small there will be a gain

Now Nauticus tabs will lift his hull and @ WOT they might gain a few hundred rpm and if so that allows a bigger pitch...Combine bigger pitch and lift with tabs one maximeizes the performance potential.. better hole shot increased midrang lower planing speeds...with very little top end loss

And yes your milage will vary...;)

Opp's and yes if one turns the tabs down @ wot they will no longer lift but dig in the nose...Remeber were at wot now and merely trying to create lift by Extending the hull...and not a hook by lowering by lowering the tabs

What are the vent plugs you are talking about in this forum? "putting in solid vent plugs" I just bought a Wellcraft 210 w 260hp 350cid Merc Alpha.....I havent put it in the water yet, but looking at prop info for reference once I test the boat. Weight I believe is approx. 2500lbs. without people/stuff. No trims on this boat either. I will test this coming week and will see about the tabs/prop needs.

The vent plugs can assist some boats to get on plane, by allowing exhaust gasses to "ventilate" the prop. They have these plugs (4 I think), in a small hole to large hole configuration, and a solid plug that allows no ventilation. When I had the open vent plug when firt trying the Laser II, my boat could barely get on plane within a half mile. With the solid plug in, it's been great.

I've heard the vents are primarily used on outboards. So I was pointing that out before he ditched the Laser, look at the plugs to see what's in there.
