Re: BARRY BONDS
I don't think we should be so ready to accept the consequences of condoning this behavior as Ralph has suggested. Hypocrisy aside, the reason we watch sports is to see extraordinary performance by people with extraordinary talent. If we are to allow or ignore performance enhancement, we are dismissing the point of paying to see professional athletes.

Isn't it enough to see someone hit a baseball 400 feet when it's thrown at over 90 mph? Is it really more exciting to see the ball fly 430 feet? Or, how about watching a human run 100 meters in 9 and some change seconds? Isn't the price of shaving a couple of hundreths of seconds too high if it is accomplished by other than legitimate means? Bonds and any others who twist the rules or truth to suit their own purpose should absolutely be penalized. This is a problem that is contributed to by players, trainers, management, owners, and, yes, the fans.

If you don't want your sports stars to cheat, stop watching them and buying the products they endorse. Let their sponsors know you are doing this. If enough people do it, they'll get the message in a big way and in a darn big hurry.
