Batteries in series problem

When you charge the batteries, are you physically moving both battery charger clips from one battery to the other or are you doing something different. You still have not isolated the troller from this equation so why not disconnect either the positive or negative troller wire from the battery. No need to do both. I agree it should make no difference but since you have a weird situation going on, you need to "isolate" things.

Yes, I've always connected clips to one battery, then when it was charged, I remove them and connect to the other battery.

I'll go ahead and take your advice by disconnecting the trolling motor. I just charged the batts yesterday and everything looked fine, so I'll disconnect and let them sit for 10 days and then check them. Thanks.
