Battery Charging

Is it possible to charge my battery while my electronics (fish finder, nav lights, aerator pump.) are connected or could it "burn up" the electronics? The battery is in a tight spot and it would be nice to leave everything connected. I have been disconnecting everything while it charges...

Why? The engine charges the battery under way as does the engine in your car/truck/whatever. Any why are your electronics on when the boat is at the dock or on the trailer?

This question is for a jon boat that has one deep cycle battery that powers the trolling motor and electronics(9.9hp, manual start, tiller). Each time I get ready to go fishing the next day, I charge the battery and have to disconnect all electronics, well that is what I have been doing so that I dont damage anything....probably would have been good to post this initially.

No need to disconnect anything. Just hook charger up to battery CORRECTLY first then plug it in.

If what you had been doing was really necessary, none of the boats on the water today, including your car or truck would be able to be operated. The alternator is simply a battery charger. They both deliver charging voltage to the battery. No need to disconnect anything. You should be charging the battery at the end of the day, not just before you go fishing. Batteries do not like to sit in a discharged state for long periods of time.
