Is there a generic 12volt coil at maybe some auto parts shops like napa available for my 1985 force 50hp. I heard of people using car or motorcycle coils
Cheers Joe

Re: battery ignition

I have seen people do this also, there used to be a guy on here that went by Schematic as his name. You might try a search on the subject or just post schematic are you there as your subject.

Re: battery ignition

I got a 76 45 hp with battery ignition. I have used 12 volt automotive coils, cost about 6 bucks apeice at AutoZone. The 45 ran pretty good, cept I couldn't get the cover on, not enough room under it.Oh yeah, get the resister wire to go with them or you'll melt the coils pretty fast.

I have seen the origial westbend coils with the clear plug wires.
There must be some 12volt coils of that size that don't cost $100.
