Re: Battery Questions

Thanks alot guys. the only battery I have found that is 700 or more is the optima? I havent checked wal-mart or inerstate though. those were the marine batteries at advanced auto. it is hard for us guys that do not live near a marine rich enviroment to find boating supplies. The optima I am told is not worth the $. though that is what we used on the aircraft in the military.

Re: Battery Questions

Trog has a point that I think everyone is missing. There are only two decisions to make when buying a battery for a boat. 1) Is it for starting my engine? If yes, you need a marine starting (or one labeled "dual purpose" or "starting/deep cycle". Marine starting batteries are designed to take the shock and vibration of marine use. Car batteries will work but not as well. If the battery is to power accessories only, you need a Deep Cycle. Will a starting battery work. Certainly, but they do not tolerate frequent deep discharge cycles. 2) The next decision is what size do I need. You can only go wrong by buying too small a battery. Buy the largest capacity that will fit in the available space. Then go boating.
